Emerson’s teaching artistry can be summed up in one quote from Augusto Boal’s seminal Games for Actors and Non-Actors, “[Artists] should help others stimulate inside themselves the artists that lie within, under-developed and timid as they may be…the delicate sensibility that has been blunted".”

Everyone’s an artist until the rent is due. Emerson seeks to awaken the artist within everyone, and refocus on the good, the true, and the beautiful in ourselves and each other. Through theatre games and collaborative play, students learn social and emotional intelligence, and gain valuable tools to take agency in their lives.

Emerson trained as a Teaching Artist under Suzy PetchEam at the Stella Adler Arts Justice Division, and is a resident Teaching Artist with Apocalyptic Artists Ensemble and Bloom Performing Arts.
